In the last few years, Nigerians have come to love and enjoy Ghanaian movies almost as much as they love Nollywood. Only a decade ago, Ghanaian movies hardly sold in Nigeria while Nigerian movies were blockbusters in Ghana.
Today, Ghollywood, as
the Ghanaian movie industry is known, has come a long way. Apart from
the sex appeal of Ghanaian movies, they parade some of the most
beautiful actresses in Africa, which has kept movie lovers interested in
seeing their faces, even if the movie isn’t so interesting.
In this piece, we have decided to feature, in no particular order, seven of Ghollywood’s top actresses.
Nadia Buari
She is probably the most loved Ghanaian actress. The daughter of Sidiku Buari,
a Ghanaian musician, Nadia has mesmerised Ghollywood for years. Born in
November 21, 1982, the actress is a graduate of Performing Arts from
the University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana.
The delectable actress, who once dated former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien has become a prominent face in Ghanaian movies, featuring in blockbusters like Beyonce, The President’s Daughter, The Return of Beyonce, Hidden Treasure and My Last Ambition.
Jackie Appiah
Her career in Ghollywood started after
she had had a series of major appearances in Ghanaian soap operas.
Jackie Appiah strikes one as a true African beauty, with her beautiful
complexion and body. With over a decade in the movie industry, Jackie
has received several awards and nominations for her various roles.
The mother of one ranks amongst one of
the highest paid actresses in Ghana, while her face can be seen on

Yvonne Nelson
From being a former contestant of Miss Ghana,
Yvonne Nelson has transformed into a household name in the
Ghanaian/Nigerian movie industry. The Human Resource Management graduate
of the Central University College, Ghana, has emerged
as an actress. Her hot body and ultra sexy long legs have become her
strongest selling point, with male fans drooling after her.

may not have lasted, Yvonne leaves an indelible mark in the minds of
many, not only as an actress, but also as an entrepreneur. She has

Her performance in movies like ‘Playboy’, ‘Girl Connection’ and ‘Prince Pride’ has endeared her to the hearts of movie lovers, garnering her various awards in Ghana, Nigeria and overseas.
Juliet Ibrahim
Juliet Ibrahim is perhaps the prettiest
face in Ghollywood. The pretty damsel, who is of Liberian and Lebanese
descent, was born in Accra, Ghana, but raised in Ivory Coast and
Lebanon. The actress cum model made her debut in 2005, in the movie ‘Crime to Christ’ opposite Majid Michel.
In addition to acting, Juliet is also a

and the USA plays host to one of Ghana’s most watched talk shows, ‘The One Show.’
In 2011, the 33 year old won the Ghanaian TV Personality of the year award. ‘Perfect Picture, ‘A Sting in a Tale‘ and ‘Bed of Roses‘
are just a few of the movies that the Ghanaian ‘face of Range Rover’
has featured in. She is most admired for having a great derriere.
Nana Ama Mcbrown
Nana Ama Mcbrown sort of stumbled into
acting; she was hired to do costume on set but ended up getting a role
in the production. In 2001, her first movie ‘That Day’ was released,
launching her career in Ghollywood.
Her performance opened the floodgates to
choice roles, landing her a spot on the TV Series ‘Tentacles.’ Nana Ama
