Following Nigeria’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso, coach
of the Super Eagles,Stephen Keshi, has refused to blame the players for
the error that led to the draw, and also stated that Victor Moses was
left out, because he copped an injury.
Nigeria conceded a last gasp equaliser, after failing to take the
ball to the by-line,and the Stallions stole the ball and broke on a
counter, which saw the Super Eagles back-footed,and Alain Traore grabbing
the heart-breaking equalising goal.
But Keshi said after the game, that he wasn’t going to reprimand the players, but would allow them to sleep over the game.
“I will let the boys sleep over this game and pick it up tomorrow. Won’t blame them, they gave it all,” Keshi said.
On why Victor Moses was not fielded in the game,Keshi hinted that
he was not fully fit,and couldn’t have been risked for the encounter.
“He suffered an injury during our game in Faro. I couldn’t risk him. Would have been stupid to do that,” Keshi said.
Even the Chelsea attacker confirmed his injury, posting on Twitter :
“tough first game 1-1 plenty of positives for us.reason for those
asking why I didn’t play was picked up minor injury in training back
soon.”
Can the Super Eagles overcome this setback in their first game, with Zambia looming in the second match?
